Hearts claim Walker did a U-turn on deal

-

HeARTS have accused Jamie Walker of breaking his promise to sign a new deal that would have made him the highest-paid player at Tynecastle. The club reacted furiously to what they called social media ‘falsehoods’ relating to Walker’s current situation. Hearts director of football Craig Levein said Walker (pictured) — who has a year left on his contract and is attracting interest from Rangers and english clubs — had rejected a new offer and decided to move on. Walker’s father Allan posted a Facebook message saying: ‘Jamie and his agent tryed (sic) to sort out a contract for him and it was pure sh*** jamie said no and Levein told he can leave..jamie has never told hearts he wants to leave . Show us the transfer request LeVeIN ...’ Hearts said Walker turned down a lucrative three-year deal despite previously agreeing to stay. The club released a statement which read: ‘A three-year deal (was) offered in February, which would’ve made Jamie the highest paid player. Despite Jamie agreeing to sign the contract initially, he then changed his mind.’ SFA performance director Malky Mackay says Scotland have been invited back to next year’s Toulon Tournament after impressing organisers. The Scots had been given the cold shoulder for two decades, but now look set to become regular competitors. ‘The tournament director asked us to come back,’ said Mackay, with Scot Gemmill’s Under-20s to face Brazil tomorrow after losing their opener 3-2 to Czech Republic. ANNAN ATHLETIC chairman Henry McClelland has been fined £3,000 for placing 4,011 football bets, including 430 involving his own club. McClelland admitted breaching the SFA’s strict gambling rules at a disciplinary hearing at Hampden. Two thirds of his fine has been suspended until May 2018. The charges against McClelland dated from July 2011 to May 2017, with four bets placed on the League Two outfit to lose. DARREN FLETCHER has joined Stoke City in a shock move from top flight rivals West Brom. The 33-year-old failed to agree a new contract at the Hawthorns and rejected offers from Spain and MLS to link up with Mark Hughes on a two-year deal. Fletcher said: ‘I am delighted to be here for a new challenge.’ HIBS new boy Simon Murray will be able to play in the first Premiership game of next season after the SFA rescinded his second booking for simulation in Dundee United’s Play-off final first leg against Hamilton. Murray was red-carded as United drew 0-0 at Tannadice before they lost the second leg 10 to top-tier side Accies.
