Health board dispels myths around Covid vaccine
NHS Lanarkshire has been working with members of the local community to create videos to help dispel the myths around the Covid-19 vaccine.
The videos feature members of local ethnic minority communities, Lanarkshire Carers and members of NHS staff. They focus on the key messages raised by local communities that they feel may be stopping people from receiving the vaccine.
Isbah Khan, BAME carers services and equalities co-ordinator, Lanarkshire Carers, told the Reformer:“It has been a delightful experience to have worked in partnership with NHS Lanarkshire and members of the local BAME community to support a better understanding of the Covid-19 vaccination.
“The co-operation and support provided by the community representatives has been commendable and made the project possible.
“The response to the videos has been fabulous and has played its role in addressing concerns about the misinformation targeted via social media and encouraging the uptake of the vaccination.”
The videos are available in Urdu, Punjabi and English and are available as a playlist on NHS Lanarkshire’s You Tube channel.
For anyone attending vaccination centres who may need an interpreter, there is now direct and easy access to more than 200 languages, including British Sign Language (BSL), via the LanguageLine app available on iPads.
Anyone needing to access the interpreting service should speak to a member of clinic staff when arriving for an appointment.
