Goal crazy day for Dynamo

-

It was an exceptional day out for Castlemilk Dynamo in the Sunday Scottish Amateur Cup as they ran out comfortable 9-0 winners at Dykehead.

The hosts, who had been in the final of the RJM Sports Sunday Trophy less than six months previously, crashed out at the third round stage.

Castlemilk Dynamo star, Alan Semple, said:“The Dynamo went to last year’s Scottish Cup finalists and beat them 9-0 on their own patch.

“It was probably our best performance in the last three years.

“Hopefully we get a better draw than any of the two teams left from last year’s last 16 in the next round. On current form we will take anybody though. It was a class performance and special mentions need to go to Connaire Dawson, Brian Hughes, James Miller and Alan Kane.

“Andrew Cunningham was absolute class from middle to front”

Meanwhile in the Premier 2, it was a tough afternoon for Rutherglen Rovers who lost a nine-goal thriller.

Brunswick, who have been in excellent form, won 6-3 and continue to show their class in the division.

Local rivals Rutherglen Burgh had better fortunes in their match with South Lanarkshire Ravens.

This game could have gone either way at any point, with Rutherglen Burgh winning 4-3, an incredible encounter between two excellent clubs.

And on Saturday, Third Lanark claimed their fourth clean sheet in a row in a 2-0 victory over 10-man Glasgow University‘B’.

The opposition goalkeeper was sent off after 30 minutes for a deliberate handball outside his box

Marc Corlett then opened the scoring with a nice finish into the bottom left corner and Alan Semple made it 2-0 with five minutes to go.

It was Third Lanark’s eighth win out of eight in the league this season who have scored 34 goals in the process.

Newton Vale continued their dominance in the Greater Glasgow Premier Division1 with a 6-1 win over Eaglesham AFC.
