A Christmas fair will be held in Rutherglen Old Parish Church on Saturday, November 19 at 11am.

Stalls will include baking, toiletries, gifts and soft goods.

The entrance fee of £2.50 includes Tea/Coffee and Cakes, while rolls and butcher’s sliced sausages will also be available at a reasonable charge.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Rutherglen Old Parish Church is open from noon until 2pm each Thursday, when anyone is welcome to visit and find out about the church’s 1400-year history.

Burnside Blairbeth Church Guild are holding a Christmas fair this Saturday, November 19, in their Church Avenue buildings from 10am until noon.

Tea,coffee and cake will be available and a large variety of stalls will be there, including books, toys, bric a brac, Christmas gifts, crafts and home baking.

All are welcome to attend. The church also run a service on the first Saturday of every month in the Rodger Memorial building in Kirkriggs Avenue. Messy Church is aimed at families. It starts with an hour of crafts and games and is followed by a celebratio­n with a Bible story and singing, finishing with a two-course meal. Castlemilk Parish Church hold community meals on the first and third Fridays of the month. Soup, pizza and pavlova will be available on Fridays from 6-8pm along with some live music. King’s Park Parish Church have a range of activities on offer over the next week. These include: Zumba class, caterpilla­r music, mother and toddlers group, mixed badminton, messy church, community cafe, God Tok, pathfinder­s, carpet bowls and youth club. Members and family members of the church are organising the event.

Donations of books are welcome and can be handed into chapel hall.

Tea, coffee and soup will be available as part of the day To mark St Columbkill­e’s return to the church they have printed a welcome leaflet to tell visitors about the services in the parish.

It is also intended to update the parish records by asking parishione­rs to provide details of family members living at their home address.

The church thanked everyone for their generosity last weekend in relation to their special mission Sunday collection for Mission Scotland. This reached a total of £2,585. St Columbkill­e’s will hold a mission week beginning on Saturday, November 26.

The church’s craft group meet in the hall from 11am until 1pm to do knitting, crochet and sewing.

The charismati­c prayer group continues to meet every Wednesday between 7 and 8.30pm. Stonelaw Church’s Cafe@The Meeting Place is open Monday to Saturday from 10.30am-2.30pm.

Tea and coffee are available, along with home baking and a second-hand book stall.

Stonelaw Church have also started holding 30-minute services in the Meeting Place on the first Wednesday of every month.

There will be tea and chat afterwards.

And the church have also expanded their popular acoustic nights at the Meeting Place.

They will now be having Acoustic Sundays once a month. Cambuslang Parish Church’s community cafe is open on Wednesdays from 10am-noon.

This will now also include entertainm­ent.

Fresh from his appearance­s at the Britannia Panopticon Music Hall during the summer, Graham Macgregor will provide laughter as he performs his well-loved usherette sketch. The entertainm­ent will be at 11am Flemington Hallside Church holds a community cafe each Thursday from noon until 2pm. Rutherglen West and Wardlawhil­l Church’s garden team meet every Saturday morning from 9.30am until noon. Their weekly friendship cafe runs every Tuesday from 10am-noon. St Oswald’s Church are continuing to push ahead with their plans for a men’s shed.

The hope is the shed can become a space for men in the community to meet and use.
