No need to suffer in silence during the grieving process

-

The Cambuslang Bereavement Support Group is on hand to support local people grieving after the loss of a loved one.

The group is available on the first and third Wednesdays of each month in the Morriston Room of Cambuslang Parish Church, Arnott Way, Cambuslang from 10am until noon.

The service is open to church goers and non-church people alike.

A spokesman said:“If you have recently, or in the past, been bereaved, and think it would be helpful to speak to someone, we are there to listen and offer confidential support, over a cup of tea or coffee. No appointment is necessary.”

They are now able to provide a telephone service on the Tuesday evenings, preceding the Wednesday meetings.

By calling the Cambuslang Parish Church office on 642 9271, those looking to speak with someone can leave a contact number.

They will receive a return call on the Tuesday evening from one of the support group’s volunteer, between 7-9pm. Rutherglen residents are being urged to sign up to a messaging service aimed at keeping locals up to date with events around their community.

Safer Rutherglen is the community messaging system supported by Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, South Lanarkshire Council and Neighbourhood Watch Scotland.

People can register free with the service online and receive alerts giving out information.

Anyone who uses the service is in charge of how, when and what messages are sent to them. Alerts are sent by email and text message and can also be delivered by recorded or automated voice through landline or mobile telephones.

By signing in to their account, created at the website, they can choose what method of delivery is used for an alert depending on what time of day it is.

The initiative gives residents information messages on local crime, antisocial behaviour, fire-related incidents, news, appeals and community safety advice will be sent directly to people by email, text or recorded phone message.
