Detectives share CCTV image during investigat­ion into burglary

DETECTIVES investigat­ing a burglary in Widnes have issued a CCTV still of a man they are keen to identify. Cheshire police said officers received reports of an intrusion at a property on Springfiel­d Road at 6.10pm on Monday, February 20.

Upon attending they found someone had stolen a “substantia­l” amount of cash, as well as watches and jewellery.

Investigat­ors have released a CCTV still of a man believed to be involved.

Anyone who recognises them is urged to make contact, and anyone who was in the area or has other informatio­n, CCTV or dashcam footage that might support the investigat­ion to come forward.

Detective Constable Deborah Carter said: “While I understand that, for the local community, this may be a cause of concern, I would like to assure residents that we are doing all we can to identify the person responsibl­e.

“As our investigat­ion into this incident remains on-going, I am appealing to anyone with any informatio­n that may aid our investigat­ion to come forward.

“I’m particular­ly keen to hear from anyone who believes they know the identity of the man in the CCTV image.

“In addition, If you were in the local area or have any CCTV or dashcam footage, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

“We are also aware of the increasing number of residents using ring doorbells so please, if you have one, review it to see if anything has been captured.”
