Firms invited to bid for police contracts

-

BUSINESSES in Halton have been invited to consider bidding for Cheshire police contracts.

The constabulary is to host a ‘social value’ event next month and is encouraging companies to attend.

Taking place on the morning of Wednesday, February 12, the session will be providing a chance for firms to learn about the various tenders to soon become available and how their products and services can support the force’s work.

Companies can also find out how to access the constabulary’s contract database and tendering system.

In addition to the tendering aspect of the event, those attending will receive up-to-date guidance on business crime and find out about how to develop their own approaches to generating social value such as through supporting constabulary volunteering schemes.

Third sector organisations can also find out about commissioning opportunities.

The event coincides with the launch of the constabulary’s social value and ethical procurement police, which it said will support more businesses in the county to provide contracts to the police.

David Keane, Cheshire police and crime commissioner will be welcoming businesses on February 12.

He said: “These new policies clarify our commitment to ensuring the contracts we procure have social, economic and environmental benefits for the local community.

“The Chief Constable and I are committed to putting Cheshire first and, where possible, supporting local businesses to provide our services whilst still delivering value for money, providing local jobs and reducing environmental impacts.

“I am looking forward to meeting lots of local businesses at this event and encouraging them to tender to work with Cheshire Constabulary.

“We have a ‘leadership’ role to play within our communities and I believe we can raise the profile and benefits of social value approaches through this event.”

Registration for the event will open at 8am to start at 8.30am at Cheshire police headquarters on Oakmere Road in Winsford.
