Students aim high for UK beauty finals
TALENTED beauty, media makeup and nails students from Riverside College are working hard in preparation for the WorldSkills UK finals at the NEC Birmingham later this month.
The students, who all placed in the top three of the regional competition and qualified for the national finals, are now working hard to plan their new designs after receiving the detailed brief for the finals. Emma Littler will compete in the media makeup Final, Destiny Fryer competes in the beauty finals and Chloe Woolliscroft and Claire Swift take part in the nails final.
Kelsey Horn was placed 2nd and achieved a silver medal and was in the top eight in the country but she was a reserve for the finals and isn’t going.
The competition will take place at the NEC arena in Birmingham from November 15-17 and the successful Riverside students will compete against the top eight stu- dents in the country.
The students, with the help of extra practice sessions with their tutors are preparing to showcase their skills in the hope of winning a medal at the competition.
Lyn Rhodes, head of the centre of excellence in hair, beauty, nails and media makeup at Riverside said: “The students all did extremely well in the regional competition earlier this year, we are delighted with their success and wish them the best of luck in the finals.”
