Welly put boot into Hammer

ON Monday night in the Widnes & District Darts League the Widnes Bowling Club 501 League continued.

Halton Stadium hosting the Goldmine conceded the first game to the visitors’ Terry Roach (16 and 18 darts). Joe Kelly (17 darts and 180) levelled the score. The Goldmine then went ahead again via Chris Hough (180). But that was as good as it got for them as the Stadium took the remaining six games and the match as Neil Ward & John Kilkenny (17 darts), Kevin Garcia & Joe Kelly (19 darts), John Bowles & Alan Magee (19 and 18 darts), John Bowles (18 darts), Neil Ward and Kevin Garcia (18 and 17 darts) were all victorious.

The Hammer & Pincers at home to the Wellington conceded the first game to the Wellington’s Ste Whitfield. Alan Swift then levelled for the hosts. The Wellington then took the lead via Anthony Hall, only to see Anne Grady & Merv Grady level matters.

However, the Wellington then took the remaining five games to wrap up a 7-2 victory as John Barber & Lol Fonterigo, Ste Whitfield & Kath Conway, Karl Whitfield, James Holden (19 darts) and Kath Conway all won.

The Mill Brow SC at home to Simms Cross Institute conceded the first four games to the Stute’s Dave Evans, Brian Abbott, Mick Cullen and opening pair, Tony Green & Mick Cullen.

The Brow recovered a point via Chris Bright & Kevin Helps. But the Stute rallied again, taking the final four games and the match through Glyn Owen & Stu Pennington, Tony Green (180), Andy Abbott and Glyn Owen.

Widnes Bowling Club at home to the Millfield claimed the first three games through Tex Bowles, Scott Byrne and Alan Clark. The Millfield recovered a point via Ray Dutton & Brian Dutton (180). The Bowler continued the rout, though, grabbing two more wins from Scott Byrne & Andy Beddows and Scott Grady & Alex McGill. The Millfield won the next two games through Brian Dutton and Chris Taylor (180).

Tommy Robertson’s victory then sealed a 6-3 triumph for Widnes Bowling Club.
