-

ON Friday night in the Widnes & District Darts League the Mill Brow SC RTB League continued.

In Division One, the Goldmine at home to the Wellington, went one game up through Peter Mullally with a two-straight leg win.

The contest was levelled after Lol Fonterigo, with a deciding third-leg win, opened the Wellington’s account.

Terry Roach hit a superb 12-dart opening first-leg and soon added the second to win convincingly, but Karl Whitfield & Anthony Hall with a winning second leg in 15 darts tied the match once more.

The Goldmine, though, were persistent and took the lead for a third time as Sean Bell & Terry Roach with a 14 darter in the third-leg took the spoils.

The Wellington, though, would not roll over and Sean Reid & Paul Murty added to their total before Ste Whitfield with a sublime 11-dart game put them ahead for the first time.

The match was quickly resolved as both Anthony Hall and Karl Whitfield with two-straight leg wins for the Wellington took the match away from the Goldmine.

Halton Stadium at home to Simms Cross Institute, were hard pushed in the early stages of this match.

Andy Abbott for the visitors took the opener taking out his opponent in a deciding third-leg of darts but a strong two-leg success from Eddie Dootson soon had matters on an even keel once more.

Again, with a third-leg win, the Stute took the lead through Tony Green.

But once more the Stadium levelled in the opening pairs game via Joe Kelly & Eddie Dootson. Dave Batty & Ged McPartland added a third game to the Stute’s total.

But yet again the Stadium struck back to level as John Bowles & Kenny Murphy threw a winning second-leg in just 12 darts.

Joe Kelly opened with a 19-dart leg and soon added a second to give the Stadium the lead for the first time.

Kenny Murphy with a 16-dart third deciding leg edged out Ged McPartland who had previously hit a 15-darter.

With the result secured for the Stadium, John Bowles rallied from a leg down as Glyn Owen threw an opening 18-dart leg, as he threw a 14 darter and an 11-dart display to win the final game.

The Mill Brow SC at home to the Millfield took the early advantage as Kevin Helps with a deciding 16-dart leg took the opener.

But a win in two straight legs by Mike Howard and another by Keith Horabin who hit a 14-darter to win gave the Milly the lead.

Brian Spruce & Dave Powell edged a win in the third-leg, but Mike Howard & Brian Dutton restored the lead.

However, a two-leg win by Jack Dunn & Alan Friar had the match tied at 3-3.

An 18-dart second-leg by Brian Dutton put the Milly ahead once more and despite a 17-dart display by Paul Linger, Billy Fox landed the penultimate game to take the match.

It was scant consolation for the Brow as Mark Harrison gave them the final game.

Widnes Bowling Club at home to Widnes Cricket Club, opened with a win in two legs from Alex McGill. Rob Morris soon had it all-square again as he got the Cricket lads’ tally up and running.

Scott Grady opened with a 12-darter to give the Bowler the lead in two legs and Joe Batty & Scott Grady with a 15 darter in the first-leg wrapped up the win with a third deciding leg.

Scott Bryne & Alex McGill with a deciding third-leg in 11 darts put the Bowler on the brink of victory, which soon arrived as Tommy Robertson & Tex Bowles with a two-leg win took the points.

A second leg in 16 darts by Joe Batty added to the winning total as did Andy Beddows in the penultimate game.

It was no consolation as Ernie Griffiths gave the visitors the final game but the Bowling Club were comfortable winners 7-2.
