HFH U7 Greens 40 HORNETS opened their account early as Luke Holland split the home side from the first play.

Good defensive work by Jackson Riley and Cobie Scott gave Hornets the edge and it took only the second set before a powerful drive from Niall Dourley saw him cross the line.

Soon after, Ryan O’Conner’s brilliant effort from halfway to the whitewash secured Greens’ third try of the encounter.

The second quarter saw some brilliant defensive work from both sides with outstanding tackles from Luke Holland, Malachy Arrowsmith and Jackson with Ryan earning the top tackler award for his outstanding contribution.

Hornets’ next try was a superb effort from Jackson, taking the ball from Jacob Sinclair on halfway and making an arcing run to the tryline.

He took a tackle but managed to part with the ball to the ever-alert Billy Rowlands who made good ground before being held up. He managed to slip the ball to a supporting Jackson who jinked and sidestepped to the tryline.

Hornets’ further scores came from Niall and Jacob before man-of-the-match Luke completed his hat-trick.

Coaches’ award went to Jackson with the parents’ award going to Harry Owen. HFH U7 Reds 8 Woolston U7 Golds 7 THIS proved to be an exciting game from the first whistle. There was some great end-to-end stuff with Woolston going over the whitewash first.

There were also outstanding defensive displays from Max Jones, Tyler Finnigan and Callum Winstanley who also received the coaches’ award for his efforts.

In the second half, Hornets were on the front foot and levelled the game with Marcus Evans crashing over.

It was then set-for-set, only for Miners to get the winning break out wide for the match-winning score.

Leigh Miners nominated Peter Scott as man-of-thematch with coaches’ award going to Conner Kean.

Top tackler for Hornets was George Charnock.
