Tuesday takes top title at Ormiston Academies group
AWIDNES headteacher has been appointed as the regional director of a group of academies across England.
Tuesday Humby is executive principal of Ormiston Chadwick Academy (OCA) on Liverpool Road.
She will now be also responsible for nine schools as part of the Ormiston Academies Trust’s (OAT) newly created North region and help to drive continued improvement.
Mrs Humby will also provide high-level support and guidance.
It was previously known as the Central Area and includes both OCA in Widnes and Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy in Runcorn.
Other schools as part of the new region include ones in Tunstall, Ilkeston, Grimsby, and Stoke-onTrent.
Mrs Humby will take on her new position as regional director alongside her current role at OCA. ●
She said: “I have been working closely with OAT in my capacity as principal at Ormiston Chadwick Academy and have seen first-hand the benefits of the support and expertise that the trust provides to all of the academies in the OAT family.
“I am now delighted to be taking on my new role as regional director for the North, supporting academies across the region – helping to drive continued improvement and academic success for all the students we serve.”
Under Mrs Humby’s leadership OCA – which rose from the ashes of The Bankfield – has gone from strength to strength and is now ranked one of the top 100 schools in the country and the fifth highest performing school in the North West.
An OAT spokesman said: “Tuesday holds a master’s degree in both child law and educational leadership management, is a qualified SENCO and an Ofsted inspector, and brings a wealth of expertise on school improvement and development to the role.
“With significant experience of school leadership at all levels, Tuesday also continues to be an active practitioner in the classroom, teaching across a range of subjects.
“Tuesday has a strong interest in developing effective leadership teams and is passionate about teaching, learning and professional development.
“Her research interests include school improvement in areas of socioeconomic disadvantage and promoting social mobility, which is very much in line with OAT’s long-standing commitment to supporting disadvantaged students and tackling the toughest challenges in education.”
The appointment involves OAT further bolstering its strong central team after another successful summer with students across the network ● celebrating excellent GCSE and A-level results.
OAT has been sponsoring primary and secondary academies across the country since 2008 and champions the excellent academic achievement and all-round development of more than 26,000 young people it serves.
OAT interim chief executive Nick Hudson said: “Tuesday Humby is a fan- tastic addition to the OAT team, she has a proven track record of delivering far-reaching school improvement at Ormiston Chadwick, as well as demonstrating the talent, drive and determination to succeed that we look for in leaders across the trust.
“The knowledge and experience she brings will help to drive further improvement and success in our academies, both in the North, and across the trust.
“I look forward to working closely with Tuesday and the other regional directors to ensure that more children and young people can benefit from the high quality of education that OAT offers across our network and achieve their full potential.”
