Tigers pounce to lead Section One as Subscripti­on strike in Two

SECTION One of the Runcorn & District League has new leaders.

With the team sheet from Hazel Pear and Pavilions A not arriving before going to press, Tigers Head took full advantage of the situation with a full house 168-83 victory at Kingsley A. Leading the way for Tigers was Barry Ellams, Jim Large and Mark Winnington, all with 21-8, and John Brooker at 21-9.

Grapes A kept up their fine form with a 156-113 win over Kingswood A, Ray Bull 21-6 – the best win in section one last week – and Ryan Dobson 21-9 for Grapes, Gordon Brown 21-13 and Steve Jones 21-17 replying for Kingswood.

With Section Two leaders Pavilions B having no game, Subscripti­on move to the top after a 154-108 victory against Kingsley B. Subs had no fewer than four winners in single figures, John Owen 21-5, Ken Myers 21-6, Dennis Rigby 21-7 and George Rigby 21-9. The best reply for Kingsley was John Smith 21-13. Third place Kingswood B took on Pavilions D and ran out the winners 149-73. Leading from the front for the Kings was Derek Bowker with 21-1 – the best win in Section Two – Derek Pearson 21-3, Bill Mack 21-5 and Graham Donnelly 21-7.

Replying for Pavilions was Peter Dumbill 21-2. Fourthplac­ed Norton Arms B took on Widnes outfit Corporatio­n with Corporatio­n running out the winners 146-131 in a hard-fought encounter.

Harry Wilson 21-4 and John Plumpton 21-7 led the way for Corporatio­n and the best reply for Norton was Alan Teachen’s 21-13.
