Ince Rose Bridge 12

HFH U13 16 HALTON Farnworth Hornets’ U13s were quick out the blocks and should have scored a couple of early tries before a forced pass was picked out by the Ince Rose Bridge centre to run 90 metres to score against the run of play.

Hornets went straight back on the attack and Sam Haynes ran a good line to score his side’s opening try of the encounter.

Two sets later, Sam this time put his winger Daniel Shone over in the corner to give Halton an 8-6 lead at the interval.

The second half started with Halton forced into a great deal of defending.

To their credit, Halton kept Ince out and marched the length of the field as Nathan Bannerman scored a good try using his strength and speed from 15 metres out to beat several defenders to the tryline.

Ince scored their second try to level matters at 12-12 and a real tight finish was on the cards.

Hornets ran the ball on the last tackle as Ben Lane put Aiden Doolan into space who expertly drew the cover to send Harry Keeley flying in from 30 metres out. The fourth conversion attempt was missed but it mattered little as Hornets sealed a 16-12 triumph.

Opposition man-of-thematch honours went to the strong running Harry Keeley who was a constant threat every time he touched the ball. Second was Aiden Doolan who had some good touches in the game and worked as hard as ever. Third was the powerful George Delaney who broke the first tackle numerous times to catch the eye. ●
