Brent upbeat at Boro’s fine run of form

-

THE positive vibes continue for Bacup Borough manager

Brent Peters after he commended his side for making it seven points out of a possible nine in their last three games.

Bacup secured an emphatic 5-1 win against Chadderton at the Brian Boys West View Stadium over the weekend, and Peters was extremely pleased with the contribution he has seen from his players.

“I am delighted for the boys having taken seven points from a possible nine and having played three games in a six day period with two of those games coming on a really tough heavy pitch,” he said.

“I must say the boys have been a credit to the badge and a credit to themselves for their honest committed endeavour over these games.

“I am really pleased for Matthew Bryan in securing five goals, as a few weeks ago Matty was getting frustrated as he was making good early runs, but the boys were not finding him, however like I keep saying, we are a young talented team, and it is a work in progress with the boys.

“The good thing being my coach Dave Felgate has worked well with the boys and the boys have responded well which was evident in this game by their service to Matthew, so whilst we applause Matty for his clinical finishing, we applause also his providers. Another pleasing situation being that given Joel Gnabouyou scored an excellent hat-trick against Holker in midweek and Kyle Siddall and Alex Mellor also chipped in, it proves we are not just reliant on just one player in getting our goals.

“First of all the pitch I knew would disintegrate after ten minutes which was then never going to be a ball player’s pitch, this was one of the reasons I decided to start Callum Hewitt for his debut.

“Callum had come to

me following good reports from my head of recruitment Danny Jones. It was evident from Danny’s reports that Callum is very much a competitor, given Kyle Brooks is more of a ball player, and given the pitch would restrict a ball player, I went with Callum and I was not disappointed.

“Callum worked hard, and he was extremely competitive which I loved, so it is fair to say it was very much an impressive debut.

“I decided to introduce Kyle Brooks into the game at the break in place of Ryan Siddal, and the decision of taking Ryan off was to prevent the boy getting a second yellow which was more probable than anything.

“Given the state of the pitch and this given that Ryan is himself a competitive player. I was being cruel to be kind as

Ryan Siddal, like his brother Kyle, have done very well for us since making the step up from the Under 21s.

“The squad is very good, there are interesting competition for places, and both myself and coach David Felgate are privileged to have a good young talented bunch to work with.

“There has also been excellent leadership from captain Laquan Esdaille and vice captain Matthew Bryan, both of who have not only helped the boys as frustrating it may have been at times, but they both have played and led by example which proves their value to this group of players and the club.”
