Player of the month award goes to Grant

HASLINGDEN Girls and Ladies football club finish off the year in good style with all teams winning their final game for 2016.

Haslingden Sharks took on a new emerging Langho team, the Sharks played in unfamiliar positions to allow Langho to compete in the game.

The Sharks lined up with Eve Hadley in goal, Grace Hadley and Emily Blackburn in defence , Jasy Kaye and Phoebe Williams in midfield , Maddison Purdy and Daisy Halewood up front and Beth Whittaker and Izzy Dunn as replacemen­ts.

Play was congested in midfield, with the first shot on target from Purdy coming in the 8th minute.

From the following corner the Sharks went one up when Purdy drilled the ball home from inside the area. 1-0.

On the 12th minute changes were made with Dunn and Whittaker for G. Hadley and Kaye. Halewood was having her best game up front and

In the 16th minute Langho mounted their first assault on the Sharks goal with goalkeeper E. Hadley getting her first touch of the ball, and in the next attack made a good diving save.

With Williams now in RAMSBOTTOM United’s player-of- themonth for November, as voted for by the supporters, is Grant Spencer.

The midfield dynamo returned to the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium earlier this campaign, and has had a major impact on the team’s improved performanc­es with his non-stop style of play which has made him a fans favourite once again, having been part of the successful Ramsbottom United team that gained two promotions in three years from the North West Counties League through to Evo-Stik Premier. ●● Grant Spencer receiving his award from programme columnist Gareth Bird

Grant received his prize, donated by Irwell Works Brewery, prior to the recent home victory against Lancaster City.
