Bazaar attracts Halloween crowds
CROWDS packed out a Halloween-themed bazaar in the latest event designed at improving the fortunes of Haslingden market.
Around 500 people attended the event, which included games and a pumpkin-carving competition, and craft and design stalls.
Market trader Andrew Taylor described the event as a ‘huge success’.
He said: “There were 400-500 people. There was a real sense of community spirit and a very vibrant atmosphere from all the Halloween-themed competitions and stalls.
“We’ve had lots of really positive comments from the public.” ●● The Halloween bazaar at Haslingden market
Andrew helps to run the permanent Craft Cabin stall which specialises in organic bath bombs, oils and soaps. Traders have been hard at work renovating the market, with the floors jet washed and flower planters and baskets have also been donated.
The 12 permanent cabins are now occupied by seven traders, and the 22 open stalls are open to new stallholders, with the whole market open on Tuesdays, Fridays and newly on Saturdays.
Andrew said: “The market had been somewhat jaded, however it’s very much improving.
“There are a lot of new goods being sold and a lot of money is being invested by the traders. It’s coming back to life and we’re pleased that we are seeing a great increase in footfall.” RAYMOND GUBBAY presents
