Linwood joins new-look Rams
RA MS BOTTOM United have made another signing ahead of the new Evo-Stik Division One North campaign after Paul Linwood joined the club.
The 32-year-old defender has recently been at Welsh Premier Division side Connah’s Quay Nomads, and was part of the squad that competed in the Europa League qualifiers earlier this summer.
He has now moved on to the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium after long discussions with joint-managers Paul Fildes and Mark Fell, who were both keen to add his experience to the new-look squad.
Linwood began his career at local side Tranmere Rovers and went on to make 44 appearances for the side, including a brief loan move to Wrexham. He then made the switch to Chester City, spending three years at the club and making 122 appearances from 2006 to 2009.
Spells at Grimsby Town and Fleetwood Town soon followed, before a return to Chester in 2012. He also had a year at Salford City from 2014 to 2015 before heading to Connah’s Quay.
Linwood will now look to have a successful season with Ramsbottom, with their league campaign getting underway on Saturday when they host Goole.
Meanwhile, the Integro League Challenge Cup draw for the First Round has seen the Rams drawn away to former Football League side Workington on Tuesday 15 November.
