ROCHDALE Olympic Gymnastics Club took 44 gymnasts to Birchwood Leisure Complex in Warrington to participat­e in the 2019 Annual Phil Tighe Floor and Vault Championsh­ips, hosted by Tameside School of Gymnastics.

The girls returned home to their Springfiel­d Park Base with countless medal winning positions and Alexis Dawson, Evie Dixon and Martel Emberga lifting trophies in top spot as Overall Champions in their respective categories.

The weekend got off to a fantastic start in the Beginners 6 & Under where Alexis Dawson took top spot on the podium in 1st place Overall with Bella Alldred in 10th place. Alexis also earned 2nd on Floor and 1st on Vault.

The Novice Aged 8 group saw Pippa HansonWalk­er taking 3rd place Overall, aided by a 1st placing on Vault, with Isabelle Ahern 7th Overall.

Charlotte Barrett had a 2nd place Overall finish in the Beginners Aged 7, with Keira Sloan in 4th, Lola Whittaker 5th and Maisie Loftus in 6th place.

Charlotte’s place on the podium was aided by taking 3rd place on Floor and 1st on Vault, with Lola taking 2nd on Vault, and Keira sharing 3rd on Floor.

Evie Dixon triumphed in the Beginners Aged 10 section taking the Overall Title in 1st place, closely followed by Freya Howarth in 2nd and Alexis Kernaghan in 6th.

The girls took a clean sweep of the Vault medals with Freya in 1st, Evie in 2nd and Alexis in 3rd. Evie took the Floor title in 1st with Freya in 3rd place.

Ava Dixon took a well deserved 3rd place Overall in the Novice Aged 9 group, followed by Daisy Whittaker in 6th, OliviaMay Hibbert 7th, Lottie Peacocke 9th, Alba

Giordani 12th, Scarlett Moore 12th, and Freya Burgess in 17th. Ava took 3rd place on Floor, with Daisy taking the Vault title in 1st place.

The Novice Aged 10 event saw Lyla Briddon with a 14th place finish.

Rose Freeman-Hart narrowly missed out on an Overall medal position in the Beginners Aged 8 event with a 4th place finish, with Jessica Beckett in 5th, Ivy Clark 8th, Isabelle Howarth 9th, Maisie Pringle 10th, Ellie-Mae Hill 11th and Lola Lyne in 13th. Rose took 2nd on Floor with Jessica in 3rd.

The Beginners Aged 9 saw Anabelle Bramwell take 3rd place Overall with Lois Briddon in 4th, Aimee Bulmer 5th, Emillie Hanson 5th, and Shianne McLaughlin in 6th. Emillie and Shianne shared 3rd place on Floor with Anabelle taking 3rd on Vault.

The second day of competitio­n earned Grace Risby a 3rd place Overall finish in the Novice Aged 11 section, followed by Maisie Whitlow in 8th and Holly Aylett in 13th. Grace also earned 3rd place on Floor.

The Novice Over 12 competitio­n saw Charlotte Wystawnoha take 3rd place on floor and Holly Rodgers take 3rd place on Vault for a joint 5th Overall finish.

Emily Cockcroft was credited with a 5th place finish in the Advanced Under 11 group.

Luci Ashton was rewarded with a 3rd place Overall finish in the Advanced Under 13 section, followed by Ella Rosales in 4th, Tilly Dooner 7th, Millie Nuttall 13th, and Rebecca Razzaq in 17th. Ella took the Floor title in 1st place with Luci in 3rd.

The weekend finished on a high note with Martel Emberga taking her 1st Overall Title in competitio­n finishing in 1st place Overall with Niamh Matthew in 3rd. Martel’s victory was aided by a superb 1st place on Floor, whilst Niamh took 2nd place on Vault.
