Aldwinians inflict home loss on Boro

-

strong effective tackle then back on attack with good distance kick from Nathan Coop who followed up and made a good tackle on visitors fullback when collecting the ball.

Now it was the turn of the visitors’ Left Winger making a good run down in Boro’s half and not long after Aldwinians gained a penalty which they converted to make the score three points each after 45 minutes play in the first half.

The second half commenced bringing on Andy Walton for Boro who had the advantage of playing with the slight slope.

Unfortunately, however, it was the visitors who stepped up their game and 10 minutes into the half they crossed the line for the first and only try of the afternoon, without converting, to take the lead.

Boro were on back foot and Chris Hough was seen making strong tackles and giving Boro the chance to advance forwards.

However the visitors were in charge and they were playing Boro more back in their own half and with just about a quarter of the game left the visitors gained another successful penalty to bring the score to 3-11.

Boro made several more player changes but it was down to Mathew Goldthorpe again to make a good attacking run, which was followed with Boro applying pressure in Aldwinians’ 10 metres area but they just couldn’t turn it into points and the final whistle went.

Boro have a week to go before they play host to their nearest rivals, Oldham RUFC and they must use this time to train to produce a collective team effort.
