Good causes share a £1m pot of health funding cash
CHARITIES, community and voluntary groups in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale are celebrating after getting funding for a range of health-related projects.
The Social Investment Fund (SIF) which is run by the CCG has invested £4.2m within the borough since 2012.
A total of £1m was available for 2015-2016 £300,000 more than the previous year.
Voluntary and third sector organisations were able to apply for grants between £5,000 and £25,000.
Over the four years the SIF has been running there have been some fantastic projects funded.
A new project funded in 2015/16 was BME (Black and Minority Ethnic) health and wellbeing which is delivering dementia awareness sessions and raising awareness on dementia in the South Asian community.
In 2014/15, the Groundwork Back on Track project was funded, which supported 55 long-term unemployed people who had experienced mild to moderate mental health problems.
This project has continued to develop and is being funded again this year.
A combination of new projects and schemes from previous years which have achieved their targets and are looking to expand their project further were also funded.
A panel which included representatives from the CCG and local voluntary sector partners assessed the 102 applications and discussed which projects could benefit health and well-being in the borough.
A total of 60 projects were funded and a full list of successful projects funding through last year’s SIF, can be found at hmr.nhs.uk.
