French and Italian classics return to Prescott

-

Our round-up of the best events of the month, plus where you need to be this weekend.

For a decade there’s been a fabulous French weekend held each year at Prescott Hill Climb. Called La Vie en Bleu, in 2016 an Italian day was added on the Saturday, called La Vita Rossa. Since the outset a heavy club presence has been one of the cornerstones of the whole shooting match, but last year things took a turn for the worse with virtually no clubs taking part at all.

Realising that clubs are key to the event’s success, this year we’ve been promised that things will be back to normal with a raft of owner groups taking part. Clubs attending include the Citroën Car Club together with the Traction Owners Club and 2cvgb, Ferrari Owners Club, Cotswold Classic Car Club, Renault Alpine Owners Club, Renault Owners Club and the Lancia Motor Club.

You don’t have to be part of a club to take part though, because if your classic is French or Italian you can take part as an individual,

although you must book in advance.

As well as a really varied set of classics taking part, this Prescott weekend offers the perfect mix of static and dynamic; as well as racing and parades throughout the weekend you can get close to the cars in the paddock as well as the cars on the club stands. Alongside top-end machinery from Ferrari and Lamborghini you can also expect to see Renault-alpines, Alfa Romeos, Citroëns and Peugeots in decent numbers, plus plenty of other Continental classics. Expect a healthy dose of street theatre as well, with plenty of singing, and if you’ve got a few quid burning a hole in your pocket the autojumble is the place to spend it.

If all this isn’t enough to entice you, Prescott is one of the most picturesque UK venues.
