Party atmosphere as fans old and new flock to watch their favourite bands and ‘chill’ in the August sunshine
A MORE chilled out day of fun was to be had at Sunday’s Victorious Festival.
There were flower crowns, lots of glitter and fancy dress costumes.
Jason Misters, owner of Ed’s Bangers, said his sausage stall was really busy over the weekend and that yesterday they sold out of all but one type of sausage.
Dave Bonney, a sleight of hand magician, performed card tricks on Millie White, as well as families throughout the premium access area.
He and three others showed off their tricks over the weekend.
Newlyweds Matt, 38 and Tilly Marchant, 34, from Copnor went to Sunday’s extravaganza.
They enjoyed Plan B’s set at the Common Stage.
Matt said: ‘We’ve binned the kids so it’s our day today.’
The heat seemed to pick up throughout the afternoon, and, although it was only 23 degrees, there were a lot of festival-goers complaining of it being too hot.
Inflatable sofas were a popular seating choice throughout the festival.
Abbie, 8, Sam, 12, their dad Matt and their mum Georgie Trigg, with Georgie’s sister Anna Cockell and her partner Andy Cockell enjoyed Band of Skulls at the Common Stage on their inflatable sofas.
The girls working at stall ‘Kuccia’ sold sequin and glitter clothing over the three days.
Portsmouth-based indie band Hallan put on a good set at the Havant and South Downs College Stage.
Mother and daughter Lily, 17, and Sally-Anne Smith, 50, were excited to see Clean Bandit.
Lily said: ‘I’ve seen them before and they’re amazing’.
Holly Strawbridge, Ben Mitchell, Vanessa Mitchell, Sharon White, Alan Mitchell and Ian White were at the Seaside Stage to see Razorlight.
They come every year as a group and have been since it started at the Dockyard.
Sharon said: ‘It’s so hot today it’s hard to find shade but we’re enjoying it round by the bandstand where it’s a bit less busy.
‘We’ve been here when it’s been pouring down with rain, though, so it makes a change.’
Razorlight began their set right on time at 5.20pm and welcomed in a huge crowd and finished with America, getting a huge roar.
Tom Stark and Will Cantlie, community engagement officers, donned flower crowns while looking after the crowd during Razorlight’s set.
The Vaccines came on to Queen’s I Want to Break Free before beginning their set.
The dancing continued across the seafront over the evening, with Plan B, Clean Bandit and Tom Grennan just some of the acts attracting huge crowds and delivering great sets.
The Strongbow Stage was as popular as ever with queues out of the gates full of revellers looking to have a cold cider and a dance to the old-school anthems.
New Order were the final act to perform last night at Victorious and rounded the weekend off brilliantly.
