The number of people allowed at events such as weddings and funeral will increase from 20 to 50 while shielding adults can return to the workplace and children to school.

Ms Sturgeon also indicated she expects the region to move to level two of restrictio­ns on May 17, which could allow more

indoor mixing.

She also said the move to level one was likely to happen on June 7. Lateral flow tests will be made available from Monday to anyone in Perth and Kinross who wants one.

Reacting to the news, Deputy First Minister John Swinney said the credit belonged with the public who have stuck to the rules: “I thank the public for their continued sacrifices over the past year.”

• Up to six people from two households can socialise indoors in a public place, such as a cafe or restaurant.

• Hospitalit­y venues like cafes, pubs and restaurant­s can open until 8pm indoors - but without alcohol - and outdoors where alcohol is allowed to be consumed. Local licensing laws will apply outdoors.

• Gyms and swimming pools can open for individual exercise.

• All shops, stores and close contact services can open. • Tourist accommodat­ion can open with restrictio­ns in place.

• Driving lessons and tests can resume and close contact services, such as beauty parlours, can return.

• Non-essential work inside people’s homes - such as painting, decorating or repairing - can take place.

• Funerals and weddings - including post-funeral events and receptions - will be allowed to take place with up to 50 people and alcohol permitted.

• Indoor attraction­s and public buildings such as galleries, museums and libraries can open.

• Travel between Scotland, England and Wales will be permitted.

• Adults on the shielding list can return to the workplace, if they cannot work from home, while children who have been shielding can return to school.
