Perthshire adventurer is all set to star in new BBC series
An inspirational Perthshire adventurer is set to star in an upcoming television programme.
Blairgowrie’s Dean Dunbar is one of a number of people featured on an episode of the long-running Adventure Show, which will air on BBC Scotland from 7-9pm on Thursday this week.
Dean (52) is registered blind but has had his name etched into the record books after setting several world firsts, including a substantial number of adrenalin-fuelled activities and challenges such as skydives, extreme sports and bungee jumping.
The show charts the progress of Dean introducing his latest passion, prone boarding – a fast-growing water sport in which participants lie on a board and use their arms to propel it forward – to presenter Patrick
Winterton.
Patrick then returns the favour by showing Dean windfoil boarding, which is said to make the participant feel as though they are flying over the water.
Dean also reveals plans to attempt some prone-boarding‘firsts’this year – despite a recent scare on Loch Tummel during which he says he “thought he was a goner”.
Also appearing is Perth adventurer
James Cave, who has built up a following on social media with quirky short films.
He tries to settle an old pub argument about the most remote place on the Scottish mainland – by hiking there in the depths of winter.
The programme, now in its 17th year, is fronted by Dougie Vipond.
It features activities on Scotland’s snow-capped peaks and lochs, with much of it shot from the air.
