Manager backs Woolley to shine further

- MATTHEW GALLAGHER

Kinnoull manager Alan Cameron highlighted the importance of signing up club captain Liam Woolley for another year.

The Tulloch Park gaffer says the central defender’s influence stretches far further than the pitch on a Saturday afternoon.

And he has backed him to continue to shine as the Perth club moves forward with their East of Scotland League journey.

“I’m absolutely delighted to get Liam signed up again and look forward to more of the same from him as I’ve had over the past few years,”Cameron explained to the Perthshire Advertiser earlier this week.

“Liam has been a rock at the heart of the Kinnoull defence for several years and he will continue to lead by example and pass on his qualities to the young lads around him.”

Kinnoull were left idle from action last weekend when their league match with Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts was postponed due to waterlogged pitch.

The fixture card is starting to look a daunting one for Cameron’s men and they sit EIGHT games behind compared to some of their rivals.

Cameron is hoping there are no more call-offs in the coming weeks and said: “We have a number of games to catch up on so I imagine the next few months will be quite hectic. Depending on the weather, it might get worse.”

Next up is an inter-conference league tussle with Arniston Rangers at Tulloch Park on Saturday, a team that sits bottom of the Conference B.

Despite their current position, Cameron is aware of how dangerous they can be and certainly won’t be taking the fixture lightly.

“Arniston will be a very tough game and we already know that having faced them earlier on in the season,”Cameron said.

“But if we turn up with the correct attitude and perform to our best then I am confident we will take something from the game. We have no injury worries at the moment.”
