-

Perth and Kinross Council received over 100 reports of dogs allegedly running out of control last year, according to figures released through Freedom of Information (FoI) legislation.

The local authority confirmed it was asked to investigate 124 separate reports of dogs bothering people or their pets in 2017 although it stressed some investigations did not go beyond a conversation with the complainer.

Staff said following some investigations, however, several owners had to be issued with dog control notices and over a dozen more had to be warned about their pets’ behaviour too.

Asked how many times it had issued control notices to people last year the council said it sent out 15 although it stressed one owner might have been sent more than one notice.

In addition it revealed it issued another 17 warnings to people over their dog’s behaviour following complaints and advised a further 22 people they were close to receiving a warning.

Asked to break down the breeds and numbers of them involved in incidents which led to control notices being issued PKC advised these incidents involved: 7 Staffordshire Bull Terriers 2 German Shepherds 1 Husky 1 Akita 1 Munsterlander

3 Cross breeds or not specified
