Fèis Phàislig are an arts organisation who provide traditional music experiences for young people across Renfrewshire.
As part of Festival 2018, they will be designing and delivering a Ceilidh Trail music performance project.
Their chairman, Grant McFarlane, says that Festival 2018 is giving young musicians the opportunity to create a vibrant showcase of traditional Scottish and Gaelic culture.
“When our organisation became aware of the cultural activity plans around Glasgow 2018, we knew we had to be involved,” he said.
“Fèis Phàislig already deliver opportunities in the traditional arts to youth across Renfrewshire and for the first time in 2018, so we are looking forward to delivering a Ceilidh Trail.
“We are recruiting a group of young musicians to tour across Paisley, Glasgow and the local authority partner areas from 2nd-12th August.
“Our group will take part in a range of performance including concerts, ceilidhs, pop-up street performances and outreach performances in the wider community in settings such as schools and care homes.
“We hope that this project will lead to the establishment of an annual Ceilidh Trail tour. Fèis Phàislig also hopes to develop new links and partnerships with cultural organisations in Renfrewshire, Glasgow and further afield which may lead to further performance opportunities for our proposed Ceilidh Trail in 2019 and beyond.”
