Dull and District SWRI Pam McDiarmid welcomed everyone to the April meeting. Demonstration from Karelia House was given on needle holders. Greetings card was won by Margaret Yearsley, Dorothy Procter came second and Kate Conway third. Lemon curd was won by Anne McLaren, Mary Buchanan second and Primrose MacDiarmid came third.

Bowling Club The lottery numbers this week were 1, 9, 13 and 19. There were no winners; next week’s prize money is £2000. Church Service on Sunday morning at 11am will be conducted by Rev James Aitchison. Tea and coffee are served afterwards. LECT guild’s Songs of Praise opening night, led by Alan Kelman, in Dunning church is on April 30 at 7.30pm. Refreshments served afterwards in the church hall.

Church Morning Worship and Children’s Club is at 11am, conducted by Rev John Macgregor. Revive Cafe is held in the village on Wednesdays at 1pm to 2.30pm. There is a children’s film night on April 26 at 6.30pm-8.30pm and the spring fete is in the village hall on April 28, 10am12.30pm.

Bowling Club The numbers drawn in the lotto this week were: 4, 7, 8 and 14. There was no winner and the rollover is £1,000. The next draw is on Sunday.
Glenfarg
Coffee Morning The event is in Glenfarg village hall tomorrow from 10am-12.30pm, on behalf of The Gurkha Welfare Trust. Adults £2.50, children £1. Attractions include a raffle and a table selling Gurkha items. All proceeds will go to The Gurkha Welfare Trust.
Guildtown
Church Morning worship includes the sacrament of communion in St Martins Church at 9.30am on Sunday. Rev Alan Livingstone will lead the service and members, friends and visitors will be welcomed. Anyone who requires transport on Sunday, should contact their elder or call 01821 640342.

SWI Members welcomed visitors from neighbouring institutes for an afternoon with Patsy Dee. Pat Dixon told of her passion for materials which she now makes into amazing handbags. This month’s competition was a handbag mirror which was won by Ethel Welsh, with Maureen Jones second and Edith Lennon third. Flower of the month was won by Susan McGhie, Lily Ferguson came second and Maureen Jones was third.

Golf Club Charity night is in the club tomorrow, at 7pm for 7.30pm; entry is £20 for a team of four. Entry money to be paid on arrival. Kinross and District Men’s Shed The annual general meeting is in The Shed (former Forth Wines building, Milnathort) tomorrow at 11am. Special signs will be in place to guide traffic to alternative routes. Crook and Drum Growing Together Spring fair is in Crook of Devon village hall on April 28 from 2pm-4pm. Teas will be available and attractions include a school art exhibition, activities for families and plant sales. SWI During the April meeting the club were joined by members from Fowlis Wester and Methven groups and enjoyed a presentation given by volunteer services manager, from the Cornhill MacMillan Centre, Perth. The proceeds of the raffle were donated to the centre. Competition of a prettiest photo frame was won by Ros Pearson, with Joyce Begg second and Carol Munro third. Vote of thanks was given by Joyce Begg.

WRI President Muriel Anderson introduced Maggie Langelaan, who demonstrated the craft of needle felting and brought along several items. She then led a hands-on workshop and members tried it out for themselves. Competitions of a fruit punch winner was Kirsty Adams, also of Perth High School, with‘Walking Along the Beach’. President William Duguid congratulated Kirsty and Sandy.

SWI The speaker at the April meeting was Corinne Craig, who was assisted by Shanna Greenlees. Corinne gave a demonstration of Chinese cookery. The members tucked in to four dishes she had made and the food was enjoyed by all. The vote of thanks was given by I Robertson and hostesses were Wendy and Shanna Greenlees. Competitions of a crocheted coaster was won by B Aitken, A Bremner second and E Troup third. Favourite thimble was won by I Robertson, with C Craig second and N Shaw third. Flower of the month was won by I Robertson, C Craig came second and N Shaw was third. The Watson Bowl was awarded to N Shaw for three Empire biscuits. The AGM is in Madderty Hall on May 2 at 7.30pm. All members are welcome to come along and cast their vote for the new committee.

Whinnybank Cat Sanctuary The sanctuary apologises for getting the name of the new Newburgh vet wrong last week, who is called Heather! Sue thanks kitten fosterer Linda who found homes for the first litter of kittens of the year, all five of which were females. Sadly, the pregnant tabby’s kittens were all still-born due to being premature. The cat has now been neutered and Sue hopes to find a new home for her in a couple of weeks time. Sue has enough large jam jars but still requires donations of very small jars. Dance There is a dance in Stanley Village Hall on Saturday from 8.30pm11.30pm. Music will be provided by Ian Cameron. SWI President Mrs C Lammie welcomed members and guests to the April meeting in the village hall. The speaker was Mrs Lynn Bryce who brought along her therapet dog, Thor. Lynn provided an insight into how well pets provide comfort and support to adults. A ‘green’ quiz was enjoyed by all. Flower of the month was won by W Reid, P Whytock came second, R Mills was third. Painted stone was won by M Rennie, J Gill was second and C Lammie came third. Decorated egg was won by W Reid, M Rennie was second, and R Mills came third. Tea hostess was W Reid and the vote of thanks was given by R Mills. Village Hall The April 200 Club winners were: £20, W Farquharson; £10, P Wells, K Fernie; £5, M Reiche, A Gannon.
Strathallan
SWI President Janet McConnell welcomed members and guests from Madderty SWI to the April meeting. After business, she introduced speaker, Alison Jones of Alison’s Kitchen from Blairgowrie. Alison set up her own catering business three years ago, organising buffets, lunches and dinners, making celebration cakes and specialising in gluten-free baking and catering. She also attends events where she sells her own produce. Alison came prepared to share and demonstrate cupcake icing tips. The members were encouraged to “have a go” at icing their own cupcake with many pretty results shown. Janet McConnell expressed everyone’s thanks. After tea, served by committee members, a bring and buy stall and raffle was held. An individual trifle was won by Janet McConnell, Janet Shanks came second. Arrangement with five flowers was won by Janet McConnell, with Elsie Galloway second, and Janet Shanks was third.
