Perth and Kinross Council will start the formal process of implementing Traffic Regulation Orders (TRO) at a number of sites around the county.

Members of an environment and infrastructure committee approved the moves at a meeting on Wednesday.

Road safety concerns had been raised by council officials about these sites, prompting the action.

Officers have consulted with residents, community councils, elected members and Police Scotland.

The procedure of implementing a TRO will involve statutory consultation, preparation of the draft TRO and advertising in the press.

Residents will be able to have their say and raise objections, which will then be reported back to the committee.

The committee approved the following measures:

Extension of the part time 20mph on Spoutwells Road in Scone to cover the new pedestrian entrance to the Robert Douglas Memorial School. The existing traffic regulation order will now be extended north and west on to Spoutwells Drive.

A 40mph speed limit to be introduced on Easthill Road in Auchterarder, north west of the junction with Tullibardine Road.

A 40mph speed limit on the B9097 where is passes the village of Drum.

The introduction of a 30mph speed limit at St Madoes on the C484 eastward beyond the Madoch Centre. This came following concerns that children use the centre.
