Wild day outing in park
Quarrymill Woodland Park is getting ready to host a wild day out this weekend for the whole family to enjoy.
RSPB Scotland is inviting people to come and explore the nature and wildlife at the popular spot on Saturday, June 10, between 11am and 3pm.
Throughout the day staff and volunteers will be on hand throughout the Isla Road park as“nature discovery bases”to help visitors explore Quarrymill.
Activities include a bug safari, wildflower foray, tree quest, and the charity’s online award scheme The Wild Challenge.
Miranda Shephard, RSPB Scotland’s community learning officer, explained: “Quarrymill is an amazing place for wildlife.
“Every time we’re here we see something new, whether it’s a shiny beetle under a log or a dipper looking for food in the stream.
“This event is an opportunity for people of all ages to enjoy discovering and exploring the wildlife that calls the woodland home.
“As well as having lots of fun finding wildlife, we’ll be doing our best to identify it so that we can add records to the National Biodiversity Network through their iRecord website.
“This means the information about the species we find will be available to everyone and can help to inform wildlife conservation in the future.
“I can’t wait to see what people find!”
