Summer rocked for our musicians

-

I had a great summer working at Loud ‘n’ Proud‘s Summer Rock School supported by CashBack.

Taking part was free for the young students, who ranged from beginners to very good players.

It was great to see them all work together and achieve some amazing things.

If I could offer that sort of thing every week for young musicians, Paisley would be the music capital of Scotland.

So, if you win the lottery, you know what to do.

Five acts are at The Cave this weekend, starting with Alan McKim tonight at 7pm.

He is followed by Mental Haggis at 9pm.

Tomorrow at 6pm is The Lynsey Dolan Band. Lynsey has a great reputation and her last set there went down a storm.

In the late slot at 9pm is The Dirty Jewels then Nightfly will be performing a whole load of challenging tunes from the likes of Toto, Stevie Vai, Steely Dan, Supertramp, Fleetwood Mac, S.A.H.B. and many more.

Nightfly are a delight to listen to. Their onstage sound is perfect and their playing skills are superb.

Give your ears a treat and check them out. First song starts at 6pm.

2 Bob Rocket are at The Old Swan Inn tonight from 8pm and tomorrow in the Shopper’s Slot at 4pm is Memphis.

The Casual Swans are back at 3pm on Monday for an afternoon of fun and games and then, on Wednesday, John Condron and Friends will be playing from 6pm.

The Anchor has FreeSpeech back again on Sunday and no wonder.

The last time the place was jumping. The band have a bit of a following so get in early and get a seat. They kick off at 4pm. The band at The Tea Gardens’ popular Sunday Night Sessions this week is Loanhead who start at 6pm.

Heavy Traffic who describe themselves as the ultimate Status Quo experience will play at the St Peter’s Club tomorrow night.

The band has been all over the UK and are just back from a successful outing to Orkney.

Jay Fitzpatrick of the band has been playing in a Quo tribute act since the age of nine.

Now aged 20 , there is not much he doesn’t know about the mighty Quo.

In support is a new band that is going under the name of Trio as a working title.

I have heard them play recently and they are dynamite.

They play a fantastic range of tunes including pop, punk and rock classics. Tickets are £7.50 at the door. Open mic nights next week are: Sunday at The Bungalow with Cat Caldwell from 8pm. Monday, 8pm at The Abbey Bar hosted by Dunky Hunter. Andy Lindsey is at The Anchor on Tuesday from 8pm, on Wednesday Johnny Barr is the host for Burger and Keg at 8pm.

Also on Wednesday Andy Lindsay is at The Patter Bar from 8pm. Thursday it is Manhattan’s, also at 8pm.

Support your local venues and keep music live.
