We’ll take the high road ... they can take the low road

-

Since then, Saints have slipped to just one defeat in seven games, with their irresistible form taking them to the league summit.

And Reilly reckons that the tie at the Caledonian Stadium can’t be overlooked.

He said: “If we are to go on and win the league this season, we can look at two games that really stood out for us in terms of our fighting spirit.

“The game up in Inverness, with the conditions and the way we were under the cosh, but we still managed to come away with the three points.

“The other one was away to Queen of the South last month when we were 2-0 down and we won 3-2.

“These are the games that were big turning points.

“We had been on a good run anyway, but to get maximum points did wonders for our confidence and we want to keep that going.

“Inverness have picked up recently because they had a slow start to the season. That was probably because they had a lot of new players and a new manager as well.

“Now they have gelled a wee bit, you can see over the last month or so how they have improved.

“We know it won’t be an easy game, but we have beaten them twice already this season, so, hopefully, we can keep our 100 per cent record going.”

Reilly has been in stunning form since arriving from Hearts in the summer, leading the club’s goalscoring chart with 19 goals.

He had to make do with a spot on the bench for Tuesday’s clash with Morton, having only just recovered from the stomach bug that ruled him out of the previous clash with Dundee United.

But he insists he will be raring to go by the time today’s game comes around.

He added: “The boys did well against Dundee United and I missed out because I wasn’t too well.

“I watched the game on the TV and they played really well.

“I came back on the bench against Morton and, when we went 1-0 up, I thought we were cruising.

“It is hard in this league, especially away from home, but we didn’t get any criticism from the gaffer on Tuesday.

“We were just disappointed we let a lead go.

“I’m delighted with how things have worked out for me here.

“As long as I am playing, I will be happy, but to get 19 goals before Christmas is brilliant.

“I would have taken 19 goals in the whole season, never mind getting them before Christmas.

“I go into every game looking to score and I was disappointed not to score against Morton because I had a decent chance.”
