Kelburne fight back to see off Dundee

- Dundee.........3 Kelburne.......4

selection will be a huge dilemma for me this week with everyone playing well, but with some players having to miss out. “I suppose it’s a good problem to have. “The players are still smarting from the loss against Cumnock two weeks ago and, believe me, they are all looking to right the wrongs from the defeat and deliver a performance to make themselves and the supporters proud.

“We will go out and play our structure and game plan and I believe if we perform at the level we are capable of, then the score will take care of itself.” Hockey

Kelburne 2s booked their spot in the next round of the cup with a well- earned victory over Dundee Wanderers.

The Paisley side headed into the clash looking to continue their good form, and they didn’t disappoint.

Kelburne started the game on the front foot as they looked to keep possession of the ball throughout.

Their dominance was rewarded with a short corner, as an improvised routine and a misplaced shot fell to Bob Martin to tuck home.

This served as a wake-up call to Kelburne and they converted a penalty corner of their own to level the scores up.

But it only took a couple of minutes for the visitors to get back in front when Ewan Carmichael struck low and hard into the corner of the net to give Kelburne their lead back.

The Paisley side looked comfortable as the clash neared half-time, however Dundee would steal their second equaliser following some slack play at back.

The second half started slowly, with Kelburne still enjoying the majority of possession.

Some good passing from the likes of Carmichael and JG Shepherd saw Kelburne in control, but out of nowhere Dundee struck to give them an unlikely lead with just 10 minutes left to play.

Kelburne’s cup run looked in real danger, but Connor Bain was on hand to save the day as he swept home another leveler.

But Kelburne wasn’t settling for the draw.

With penalties mounting up, Bain was again on the scoresheet, using his pace to get himself one-on-one with the keeper, before striking on the reverse stick to book Kelburne’s spot in the next round.
