University’s accounting course is first class
The University of the West of Scotland’s BAcc Accounting degree has received prestigious accreditation.
It is now recognised by the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accounting in England and Wales).
The course aims to provide students with thorough training for a career in accountancy – including financial and management accounting, taxation and audit.
There is an emphasis on the practical aspects of accountancy, where students gain the mix of skills, knowledge and experience needed for success in the profession.
This latest accreditation now means that the university’s BAcc Accounting course is recognised by five professional accounting bodies in total – the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA), and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), as well as ICAEW.
Steven Leonard, of the university’s School of Business and Enterprise, is BAcc Accounting programme leader. He said: “We are delighted that our popular BAcc Accounting degree has been awarded yet another accreditation.
“This is a great achievement and is a measure of the strength of the degree and the rigorous standards that are applied.”
