Intruder pushed pensioner to the ground and took his wallet
A 76-YEAR-OLD man was hit on the head with an unknown object during an aggravated burglary in Nottingham.
After answering a knock on his front door, the elderly victim was pushed into the living room where he fell to the floor.
The offender then took his wallet, which contained cash and bank cards. He is then reported to have run out of the property on Vincent Gardens, in Radford.
The victim suffered a lump to his head and an injury to his finger from the incident, which happened around 4.35pm on Monday, February 12.
Nottinghamshire Police are pursuing multiple lines of inquiry to trace the suspect, including carrying out forensic inquiries.
As part of their checks, investigators have released this CCTV image of a man they wish to trace in connection with the incident as well as a shop theft on Alfreton Road, Nottingham on Friday, February 2.
Detective Constable Michael Love said: “This was a shocking incident that has left the burglary victim understandably feeling very shaken. Support is being offered to him and safeguarding measures have been put in place.
“Thankfully these types of incidents are rare, but I would like to reassure the local community that we are doing everything we can to apprehend the person responsible. I believe that someone will know who the offender is, and I’d ask them to search their conscience and get in touch with us so we can get justice for the victim involved in this incident.”
He continued: “We believe the man pictured in our CCTV appeal may have information that could help our ongoing investigation. If this is you, or you know who he is, then we’d urge you to please come forward. Similarly, anyone with any other relevant information, who has not yet spoken to police, is asked to contact us immediately. Even the smallest amount of information could be vital to our inquiries.”
