FOUR DRIVERS WANTED OVER MULTIPLE HIT ‘N’ RUN DEATH

-

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to the death of a woman who was struck by four vehicles in a suspected multiple hit and run.

The 29-year-old victim from Wandsworth, south west London, was hit by a lorry as she used a pedestrian crossing, before she is thought to have then been struck by another lorry and two cars.

None of the drivers stopped after the incident in Tulse Hill, south London on Monday morning, the Metropolitan Police said.

The victim was treated at the scene but pronounced dead at 7.21am.

She has not been formally identified but her family has been informed.

The junction has been described as “a racetrack of sorts” by one resident, in a letter to Streatham MP Chuka Umunna.

Tweeting under the name Ross Runs, the man said: “As both a pedestrian and a driver, the junction at Tulse Hill encourages some of the most aggressive driving I have seen in London.

“If there is an opposite to calming’ then this is it.”

In a joint statement with MP for Dulwich and West Norwood Helen Hayes, Mr Umunna urged anyone with information to come forward.

They added: “Lambeth Council is working closely with Transport for London on urgently needed changes to the Tulse Hill gyratory.

“We are pushing for these works to be delivered as soon as possible, and for any lessons which emerge from the investigation into this appalling incident to be acted upon immediately.”

Police have appealed to all four drivers to come forward. ‘traffic
