A NEW festive family experience is coming to a country park for a month-long event this Christmas.

Yuletide, based on ‘festive folklore, ridiculous rituals and forgotten tradition’, and featuring a winter light trail, opens at Tatton Park Gardens, Knutsford, on November 24, and runs right up until December 23.

At the heart of the event is the Yuletide Gathering, a fresh take on a festive favourite, as families are invited to wrap up warm around a glowing campfire to listen to live music and campfire stories, toast marshmallows and even watch fire jugglers. There will also be food vendors serving up tasty festive treats and mulled wine.

Afterwards, visitors can walk a glittering light trail through Tatton’s much-loved gardens. There will be lit installations, interactive light effects, illuminated puppets and costumed characters en route.

Yuletide is created by awardwinning outdoor arts organisation Wild Rumpus, who run the Just So Festival in Cheshire and have also produced Lanterns at Cheshire Zoo for the past six years.

“We can’t wait to bring Yuletide to Tatton this Christmas,” said director Rowan Cannon.

“It will be unlike any other festive event that families have been to. We wanted to create something special, that hopefully becomes part of festive traditions.”

There will be a special celebration on December 22 to mark the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year.

With time slots between 3pm and 7.30pm on selected dates, tickets are on sale now at www. yuletide.org.uk at £12 for children, £20 for adults and free for undertwos.
