PAT’S BIG WIN WITH PEOPLE’S POSTCODE LOTTERY MEANS SHE CAN BUY HER DREAM HOME IN WALES
SUPERMARKET worker Pat can think about checking out of her local Asda and taking retirement after 25 years there, thanks to a massive win on People’s Postcode Lottery.
Pat was the biggest winner among 897 St Helens players who scooped a £3million prize pot in the Postcode Millions draw.
She and husband Roy, an ex-serviceman, signed up to play to support charities close to their hearts. Now, along with donations to Saints Community Development Foundation and Francis House Children’s Hospice, the £333,332 win means they can change their own lives too.
“I can finally think about retiring. We go to Wales every year, and there’s a chance we can buy a place there,” said a delighted Pat. “We’ve been dreaming about it for the past week since we found out that we’d won, and now those dreams can come true.”

Gemma, one of seven £166,666 winners, is also eyeing up a new home. “I can finally move out and get my own place,” she said. “There are seven of us in this house so my sisters will already be deciding who’s getting my room!”

Lottery team delivering cheques on her estate and knew she and husband Vic were about to get a knock on the door – but they were stunned when they were handed one for £166,666. “We only expected to win around £500 – I was speechless when I saw the amount on the cheque. This will really, really lift the spirits of the whole community.” Retired supermarket worker Cynthia was also staggered to find that, having won £166,666, she now had more money than she’d ever had in her life.
“I’m in my 70s and I’ve never had more than £2,000 in my bank account before,” she said. “I just couldn’t believe it. I have only been playing for about 18 months and I’ve already won lots of £10 prizes. It’s a no-brainer – you sign up once and you don’t have to go looking for tickets. It’s just so easy, and now they’re here on my doorstep!”
