Isak makes his pro debut before move

- By RICHARD FAY

The difficulty for Solskjaer is that it’s a starting XI who have struck a perfect balance, with Nemanja Matic complimenting the midfield duo of Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes, while Mason Greenwood has added balance to the attack alongside Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

As we saw at Norwich making eight chances cost United fluency, but the danger now is making even two or three could remove vital cogs from what is a well-oiled machine.

The Reds’ room for error is tiny, as well. The 16-game unbeaten run has given them hope of some silverware in the FA Cup and thrust them back into top-four contention.

Leicester City certainly look vulnerable and United will be confident of swooping on the Foxes on the final day of the season if they remain within touching distance, but they might require wins to do that and would rather travel to the King Power already in the top four and knowing a draw would do the job.

Solskjaer has to hope his fringe players rise to the challenge, however, and prove that the disappointing display at Norwich was a oneoff. He has options available, from Brandon Williams and Eric Bailly in defence, through to Scott McTominay and Fred in midfield and Daniel James and Odion Ighalo in the front three.

The challenge is getting the number of alterations right. The wisest move might be to give key men a rest in all three games, rather than making wholesale changes for just one game. Whichever way Solskjaer goes about the next couple of weeks, it’s a run that could prove crucial to United’s ambitions this season.

ISAK Hansen-Aaroen made his professional debut for Tromso on Monday night ahead of his move to United next month.

The 15-year-old came on in the final minutes of his side’s 2-0 win at Kongsvinger, having been an unused substitute for the previous league match.

It was a moment to savour for HansenAaroen and the start of a perfect farewell at Tromso ahead of his move to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

M.E.N. Sport first reported in August a deal was in place for the teenager to join United when he turns 16 next month as part of a proposed long-term arrangement between the clubs which saw Aidan Barlow move on loan in the opposite direction.

Hansen-Aaroen will become the first Norwegian to sign for United since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed manager, with the youngster expected to feature for the Under-18s next season.

The Reds fought off competition from both Liverpool and Everton to sign the attacking midfielder, who has three appearance for Norway’s Under-16 side already.

Speaking last year Tromso manager Svein-Morten Johansen spoke of his club’s working relationship with United.

He said: “We think this is very exciting because we co-operate with a big club and we have already developed a good cooperation.

“This could be the start of a long-term collaboration that can give us a lot. We already have a very good dialogue.

“The most important thing is we get close to them and gain new knowledge.”
