No pre-match press call ahead of Hammers
CITY will not hold a pre-match press conference today ahead of tomorrow’s rearranged fixture with West Ham.
The game was due to be played on Sunday, February 9, but Storm Ciara led to the postponement of the fixture due to safety concerns and the game has been rearranged.
Premier League rules state that for a Wednesday game press conferences should be held on a Monday or Tuesday and start no later than 1.20pm. However, both Pep Guardiola and David Moyes held their pre-match press conferences on the Friday before the original date for the fixture and as that means they have already fulfilled their media obligations, neither will be holding a press conference ahead of tomorrow’s game.
The City boss has yet to speak out on UEFA’s announcement on Friday night that they have given the club a two year ban from European competitions due to ‘serious breaches’ of Financial Fair Play rules.
The decision not to hold another round of media means that the first time he will be asked in public about UEFA’s ban will be on Sky ahead of tomorrow’s televised game.
There is due to be half an hour of coverage ahead of the 7.30pm kick-off.
Following the match, a player and the manager are scheduled to give interviews to broadcasters.
The manager will then give a press conference where the written media will have their first chance to ask for his thoughts while the players will be able to stop to speak to journalists – should they choose to.
