A TEENAGE boy ran from door to door shouting for help after being stabbed, a witness has told the M.E.N.

Police are investigating after the shocking incident, in which residents said ‘two young lads were fighting’ having ‘pulled knives on each other.’

It happened on the corner of Victoria Avenue and Walker Road in Blackley yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services – including armed officers – responded to reports of a stabbing at around 4.45pm.

A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital in an air ambulance. He remains in a serious condition.

Police said an investigation is underway. No arrests have been made.

One witness told the M.E.N: “I was in the shop over the road on Victoria Avenue. We heard a commotion and went out to see what was going on.

“There were armed police on the corner of Walker Road and Victoria Avenue, they were blocking Walker Road.

“There were loads of ambulances and then the air ambulance landed on the field [at the top of Walker Road].

“My mate saw it happen and he said two lads were fighting, they both pulled knives and attacked each other.”

A shop worker added: “Two young lads were having a dispute when they pulled their knives on each other. They were in their late teens.

“It’s very frightening. There were armed police on the corner.

“We get a lot of fighting, but not with knives.”

It is believed that after being stabbed, the victim staggered up Walker Road desperately looking for help.

A schoolgirl who saw him shared a harrowing account with the M.E.N. of the aftermath of the incident.

“He was shouting, knocking on all the houses asking for help,” she said. “No one was answering. “Then he saw me, ran over to me and asked me to phone an ambulance.

“I ran over to my friend’s house and asked her sister to phone it.

“I told my friend’s older sister to phone police. These people came out and he was sat on the doorstep. Then police came and the ambulance came and landed on the green.

“I don’t know what happened before.

“It was really scary.” Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 1146, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
