Ex-Rebels boss is back... as a player

- NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL By BETH COLLINSON

FORMER FC United captain and interim manager David Chadwick has re-signed for the club seven years after he left in search of regular football.

Chadwick made his debut for the National League North side back in 2005 and went on to make 209 appearances for the club before being released in October 2011.

In the seven years since Chadwick left he has played at Skelmersdale United and more recently became development squad manager at Chorley FC.

The 41-year-old returned to the Rebels 11 months ago to take on a player development role which included managing Moston United, but the club legend put pen to paper recently to return to Neil Reynold’s first team squad as defensive cover.

During FC United’s Tuesday night tie away at Mossley, Chadwick appeared as a second-half substitute to complete his return and make his 210th appearance for the club.

FC United have also announced the signing of 20-year-old Ryan White from AFC Blackpool.

White has played previously at Bolton Wanderers and Bamber Bridge, and last season he was part of the Bolton Wanderers Under-23 squad.

The winger made an instant impact at his new club by scoring on his debut on Tuesday 2-0 in the Manchester Premier Cup.

Both players will be available for FC United’s home match on Saturday against AFC Telford United.
