Zidane doesn’t want to sign keeper
HOPES of keeping David de Gea at United have been given a boost after Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane insisted he is happy with his two goalkeepers.
The Spain international almost moved to the Bernabeu on transfer deadline day in summer 2015 but, fortunately, a fax machine blunder kept him at United.
Since that deal broke down, rumours have continued to swirl over his long-term future and not a month goes by without speculation of Real Madrid’s interest.
Despite that, De Gea is understood to be happy in Manchester and played the game of his career against Arsenal last weekend, making a Premier League record-equalling 14 saves in United’s 3-1 victory at The Emirates.
He was rightly hailed the best goalkeeper in the world by Jose Mourinho after his phenomenal performance - and went viral online thanks to fans celebrating his incredible efforts. And now supporters might have another reason to celebrate following comments made by Real Madrid coach Zidane.
After being linked with Athletic Bilbao stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga, he made it clear he wasn’t interested in recruiting a new No.1.
He said: “Kepa? I have two goalkeepers, understand?
“I am a Real Madrid coach and I am happy with my two goalkeepers, I will always say the same.”
