Five arrested over shooting of man in his own home

FIVE people have now been arrested by detectives investigat­ing the shooting of a man in his own home.

The 49-year-old victim was blasted with a shotgun as he stood on the stairs of his detached house in Glebelands Road, Prestwich.

And the gun gang responsibl­e pulled up in a white Fiat 500, it has now been revealed.

Police believe it was a targeted attack and the victim remains in a serious condition after undergoing two operations.

Three masked men forced their way into the property on Monday November 27 and police were alerted to the shooting at 8.40pm.

The gang had previously visited the address earlier and stood on his driveway, where they appeared to load a gun.

They then went to the back of the property before returning to the front and walking off down the road towards Poppythorn Road.

At around 8.20pm, the same men approached his house from the direction of Heywood Road and again, went around the back.

This time they smashed the patio door and went into the house where they were met by the victim on the stairs.

Four men, aged 20, 22, 24 and 30 have all been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in custody for questionin­g.

A 33-year-old man from Whitefield, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, has been released on bail until the end of December.
