BIG PICTURE
COUNCIL NOW HAPPIER PLACE
IN response to the letter regarding the loss of two senior staff members in recent months, I am delighted to be able to discuss the results of the corporate peer review that Cheshire East has undergone.
This saw people from the LGA, as well as councillors and officers from other councils, come in to Cheshire East Council to review our culture and practices.
The results and subsequently the report that was announced at cabinet showed the following:
“The team received a broad range of feedback and were struck by the positivity of the staff working for the organisation, and the remarkable progress that has been made in improving workforce culture in a relatively short space of time.
“The importance of this work was illustrated by clear leadership and commitment, including the determination of councillors to drive and prioritise improvement.”
Under the previous
Conservative administrations, there were no less than seven monitoring officers between 2010-2019.
I note that the letter did not mention that.
We have a lot left to do to right the wrongs we’ve been left with, but staff surveys have shown a remarkable increase in staff satisfaction and happiness.
Cheshire East is now a happier place to work, and we actively encourage anyone not happy to come forward to discuss their concerns and we can try and fix them.
