Shepshed end campaign with away win at Barwell

SHEPSHED’S 1st XI’s final game of the season was away at Barwell 1st XI and it was Shepshed who batted first but they were bowled out for 172 in 41.2 overs with Kumara Kesana and Karl Shaw both scoring 36 along with Jake Lister who scored 26.

In reply Barwell were not at the races and after 35.3 overs they were bowled out for 111 with Stapleford - Jones top scoring with 36 and Tillman scored 10 the only batsman in the Barwell team to score double figures with Adam Clapton taking 4-28 and Kumara Kesana taking 4-20 as Shepshed won the game by 63 runs.

Shepshed’s 2nd XI’s final fixture was at home to Newtown Linford 2nd XI but it was not at Morley Lane as usual the game was played at Pudding Bag Lane, the first 2nd team fixture to be played at the venue.

It was Newtown Linford who batted first and after 45 overs they had scored 250-4 with Armson top scoring with 98, Hopkins scored 45 along with Bulpitt who finished on 45 not out with Jack Pilkington taking 2-65 for Shepshed.

Shepshed didn’t finish the season with the bat as they wanted to with Andy Kenneth top scoring with 42 as Shepshed were bowled out for just 99 with Newtown’s Mulverhill taking 5-9 as Newtown Linford won the game by 151 Runs.

Shepshed’s 3rd XI’s final game was away at Loughborou­gh Carillon 2nd XI who batted first and scored 222-7 with Allsopp;s top scoring with 66, George Peck for Shepshed was the pick of the bowlers taking 3-31.

Shepshed dug in and batted really well with Phil Warrington top scoring with 48. George Peck was having a great day as he scored 41 not out and opener Eathan Brentnall hit 32 but in the end Shepshed finished on 164-7 which included a remarkable spell of bowling by Dilip Patel who took unbelievab­le figures of 7-24 from his 12 overs as Carillion won by 58 runs.
