Shepshed register first league win

PITCHING IN NORTHERN PREMIER MIDLAND DIVISION SOHAM TOWN RANGERS 0 SHEPSHED DYNAMO 2

SHEPSHED Dynamo deservedly earned their first victory in the Pitching in Northern Premier Midland Division with a comfortabl­e 2-0 away win at Soham Town Rangers.

Dynamo scored both goals in the first half. Matt Melbourne opening the score on nine minutes and John King with the second on 23 minutes.

Soham had more possession in the second half but never really threatened the Shepshed goal and Dynamo should have gone and increased their lead.

Shepshed bounced back from two heavy away defeats and once again started brighter than their opponents.

Liam Canavan’s free kick was headed clear by Lee Chaffey in the first minute. Karl Demidh then fired into Finley Iron a minute later.

Dynamo’s early pressure paid off on nine minutes. King found Demidh down the right hand side and his cross was slotted passed Iron by Melbourne.

King then had a dangerous cross cleared by Jake Sulman.

Soham had very few chances in the game but Melbourne was called into defensive duties heading clear on 15 minutes and King made it two for Shepshed on 23 minutes.

Shepshed’s biggest scare of the game came on 26 minutes. A loose pass from Canavan let in Declan Rogers he rounded Brandon Ganley on his return to the Shepshed goal with Matty White injured. Jordan Smith did well to block Rogers shot and Ganley forced a corner from Rogers from the rebound.

Sam Bennett then had an effort blocked for Rangers and on the half hour mark Bennett headed wide from Ryan Kelsey’s cross.

This was Soham’s best spell of the half with Canavan blocking Jon Kaye’s effort on 36 minutes.

Shepshed ended the half strongly Demidh’s free kick was blocked on 37 minutes and his rebound shot was blocked as well. The ball fell to Melbourne on the right who fired over.

With the half ending King found Canavan who curled wide on 41 minutes.

Soham came more into the game but didn’t really threaten Dynamo in the second half and their day got worse on 82 inutes being reduced to 10 men with Ward given a straight dismissal for a strong challenge.
