Artists can take part in free events which are organised by borough club

-

AMATEUR artists are being invited to brush up on their skills with a series of free art events being organised in Loughborough.

Charnwood Drawing and Painting Club has launched a programme of tutored workshops on Wednesdays.

Each session is two hours long and will be given over Zoom.

Club chairman Paul Lockton said the offer was an “exceptional package” and is worth around £120 per person if all six events are taken up.

Mr Lockton said: “They include paint-along tutored workshops that are instructive and very tactile, and professional art demonstrations, both with lots of helpful commentary.

“Each event will be two hours long and delivered on Zoom covering different mediums. This enables budding painters to progressively build up their skills in watercolour, acrylic, oils and pastels.”

The workshops will include: January 27, 7-9pm: Alex Jacob-Whitworth - Painting horses in a paddock February 10, 10.30am-12.30pm: Andrew Geeson - Floral still-life February 24, 7-9pm: Amanda Jackson - Capturing beautiful landscapes March 24, 7-9pm: Phil Biggs - Impressive country homes April 14, 10.30am-12.30pm: Mike Skidmore - Fine pastel portraiture. The free workshops were funded by the Covid Emergency Fund, which is distributed by Charnwood Borough Council.

The club has continued to run sessions during the coronavirus outbreak over Zoom, with hopes to return to live shows in the second half of 2021 at the ARC Community Hub in Loughborough.
