Search continues for one stolen confectionery trailer

-

A TRAILER stolen from a business in Loughborough has been located in the South Yorkshire area.

Earlier this month the force issued an appeal after £100,000 worth of confectionery was stolen from a compound overnight on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 22-23.

A number of people broke into the compound at Hancocks Confectioners in Hockey Close and stole two trailers and unloaded the contents of one trailer onto a separate vehicle before driving that away.

Following the appeal one of the trailers, which was white with a blue edge stripe, was found abandoned in a layby in the Lindrick Dale area of South Yorkshire last week.

The second trailer with the ‘Kingsway Confectionery’ motif on the side remains outstanding.

PC Michael Hinton, the investigating officer, said: “We know several people were involved in this crime and not only did they steal a substantial value of property they caused significant damage to the vehicles in doing so, adding to the inconvenience and cost to the business.

“The recovered trailer will now be the subject of forensic examination and enquiries will be carried out in South Yorkshire.

“However we are still keen to speak to anyone who has seen the Kingsway Confectionary trailer since it was stolen. We would urge the public to get in touch with us if they know of its current whereabouts or have any information about the incident itself.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 712 Michael Hinton on 101, quoting crime reference number 18*235243.
